New fares, new equipment for taxis in 2012

Business travellers will soon see their taxi fares swell, but they will be able to pay more simply thanks to the new parking meters due to be introduced in 2012. This is the result of a decree published in the Journal Officiel over the festive period.

New year, new fares: the SNCF is not the only player in the transport market to be revising its prices upwards in 2012. Taxis, another major player in the business travel market, have just had their fares increased from 1 January 2012. Specifically, the minimum fare will now be €6.40 (+3.7%). The fare for an hour's waiting time or slow walking time has also been increased to 32.75 euros, compared with 29.25 euros previously. The other new feature in 2012 will concern equipment: a mixed development for business travellers, since expense claims will be facilitated by new-generation ticket machines capable of printing out invoices. At the same time, the race for available taxis should become more complex: drivers will no longer be obliged to display the colour - red or green - indicating their availability.
