La New Caledonia will have been totally isolated for over a month due to the violence and riots that shook this French archipelago at the end of the world.

But the situation is slowly returning to normal, even if the curfew remains in force for the time being due to persistent violence in certain parts of the country. However, it has been reduced to 8 p.m. instead of 6 p.m..

Advice for travellers

Traffic conditions on the road from Nouméa to the airport (RT1) permitting, Passengers can make their own way to the airport before 8 p.m. for night flights, or 3 hours before departure for day flights.. However, this is not the end of the story, the car park and drop-off point are temporarily closed for security reasons. On presentation of their plane ticket, passengers can be dropped off or picked up at Car Park P1 only.
  • Pay-per-use Arc-en-ciel bus shuttle service available if necessary from/to Port Moselle in town, opposite the New Caledonia Museum.
  • If the situation requires it, air travel with Air Calédonie may be organised between Magenta aerodrome and La Tontouta airport.
