
It's an exercise that those involved in travel regularly attempt, with varying degrees of success: classifying the airports and airlines on a qualitative basis. In the shadow of Skytraxwhich has become the benchmark, new studies are emerging. AirHelp has just unveiled its rankings, which reveal a few surprises. While Asian airports have once again claimed the 2019 Sytrax trophies - Singapore Changi, Tokyo Haneda and Seoul Incheon on the podium, ahead of Doha, Hong Kong and Nagoya - the airport ofAthens takes the bronze medal for AirHelp. With a score of 8.38/10, the Greek airport is just behind Doha and Tokyo Haneda. French business travellers watching the position of Paris airports will have to scroll down the ranking pages. Indeed, the CDG is struggling, with an AirHelp Score of 6.70/10 relegating it to the bottom of the league. 121st place. Orly doesn't stand out either, with a score of 6.37/10 and 126th place out of... 132 airports.
To calculate its index, AirHelp surveyed users to evaluate the quality of service (20% of the overall score) and the offer in terms of restaurants and shops (20% of the score as well). The remaining 60% are based on the most objective data, namely punctuality. Unfortunately, Paris airports do not fare any better in this specific ranking, as their position remains unchanged. Nevertheless, there are a few surprises at the head of the race against the clock. The airport of Charleroi-Brussels South is sacred as being the most punctual, Moscow Sheremetyevo and Tokyo Haneda rounded off the podium ahead of two Brazilian airports: Curitiba and Viracopos.
And what about the airlines? It seems that business travellers passing through the Doha are the most advantaged. That's right, Qatar Airways makes it a double success by taking first place in the rankings AirHelp as well as the coronation of Doha Hamad airport. With a score of 8.23, it beats out its nearest rival, Doha Hamad Airport. rival American Airlines and Aeromexico. Air France's overall score of 7.60 places it 19th out of 72 airlines surveyed. As for processing compensation claims - one of the three criteria used to assess carriers, along with punctuality and quality of service, and a speciality of AirHelp - it is SAS with the highest score, ahead of WestJet and American Airlines.
