As Japan reopens its borders to a wider audience, business travellers to Osaka will find a new Mercure hotel from December. To add a fifth hotel in the country's second largest city, Accor has teamed up with Japanese hotelier Tokyu Resorts & Stay to offer a facility equipped for both short and long stays. And it will carry a dual brand name: Mercure, but also Tokyu Stay, a local player in the long-stay market with around thirty aparthotels in Tokyo and other major Japanese cities.
As a result, the Mercure Tokyu Stay Osaka Namba, which has 288 rooms in total, will offer a washing machine dryer and kitchenette in some rooms, characteristic features of all Tokyu Stay. While all rooms are equipped with a 50-inch TV, rain shower and high-speed Wi-Fi, the Duplex Suite and Premium Twin Rooms offer panoramic views of the Osaka and Namba cityscape.
Located very close to Namba station, with direct links to Kansai International Airport, the hotel also benefits from its proximity to the central shopping district of Shinsaibashi as Amerika Mura, the 'American village' at the heart of Osaka's youth trends. The contemporary design of the establishment reflects this trendy environment while playing on the history of the Namba district, with dark, chic interiors reminiscent of the warehouses of firewood wholesalers established there during the Edo period.
In terms of services, as well as a fitness centre, the new Mercure hotel offers an all-day dining restaurant, the Italian-inspired Centre M, and a new restaurant, the Bistro. specialising in fresh pasta. Bonus: a breakfast buffet that changes daily and offers more than 40 dishes prepared with local produce.
