" I am not 70, I am 18 with 52 years of experience " - " I'm not 70, I'm 18 with 52 years' experience".French version - It was behind this ironic slogan that Delsey celebrated its first birthday on 26 May at the luggage manufacturer's pop-up store in the fourth arrondissement of Paris. It was an opportunity to bring together a host of international journalists, and above all to unveil the new star of the Delsey range. Its name: Pluggage. Its promise: to embody the France's first connected suitcase.
Delsey took its time before reaching this point. Four years of reflection within the innovation department will have been necessary, according to the brand's managers meeting on Thursday. This process was then extended with the general public, who were asked to vote online for the most popular features, particularly for business travellers. The prototype unveiled at the end of 2014 was reworked and remodelled, culminating in the Pluggage suitcase unveiled on Thursday evening, with a mobile application to assist business travellers throughout their journey.

The new model features a fingerprint unlocking system, complemented by a mobile functionality integrated into the application. Pluggage also features an integrated scale with overload indicator, as well as a geolocation system. The latter enables users to be notified when their baggage is approaching the conveyor belt, after having set the desired distance beforehand. This saves passengers precious time when they land, as their baggage is instantly recognised. Conversely, baggage geolocation can also be used to send a notification when the distance between the suitcase and its owner is too great: a good way of avoiding theft or a simple oversight, for the most distracted travellers...
