Radisson Hotel: expansion expected in Europe and Africa

The Radisson Hotel group has announced 15 new openings to strengthen its offer in Europe, Russia and Africa.

One - the Radisson Hotel Istanbul Sultanahmet - is more intimate with its 28 rooms, historic ballroom and 19th century Ottoman-French style meeting room. The other, the Radisson Hotel President Beyazit, is more contemporary, with 201 rooms and suites in grey and beige tones, five bars and restaurants, and a meeting offer including four meeting rooms and two event venues. But both are almost identically located, close to the Grand Bazaar, Hagia Sophia and Topkapı Palace. Having just opened, these two hotels reinforce the group's position as one of the world's leading hotel chains. Radisson Hotel among Istanbul's leading hotel operators with a total of 16 establishments. The group is expanding rapidly in Turkey, with the ambition of increasing the number of hotels in operation or under development from 30 to over 50 in the next three to five years.

Despite the current circumstances, the Radisson Hotel Group is continuing to an ambitious five-year development plan in the EMEA region and has just announced 15 new hotels in the pipeline. As a result, we have expanded our presence in Italy, France, Austria, Greece, Russia, Ukraine, the United Arab Emirates and throughout Africa." said Elie Younes, Executive Vice President and Chief Development Officer of the Radisson Hotel Group.

In France, in addition to the announcement just before containment of the resumption of the luxurious Cour des Loges in LyonThe Radisson Blu Grand Hotel & Spa Malo-les-Bains, which will join the Radisson Collection after renovation in 2021, will open in the second quarter of 2021 near Dunkirk. Located on the Opal Coast, opposite the beach, the Radisson Blu Grand Hotel & Spa Malo-les-Bains will offer 110 rooms and suites, all with private terraces, as well as 255 m² of meeting and event space. The hotel will be the thirteenth of the upmarket Radisson Blu brand to open in France.

The development of the Radisson Group also involves stronger brand portfolio. So, while the Radisson RED lifestyle brand will continue to expand in Austria, with a hotel expected in Innsbruck in 2023, the luxurious Radisson Collection will strengthen its position in Italy this year with the opening of the Grand Hotel Savoia in Cortina d'Ampezzo. This top-of-the-range hotel will have 126 rooms, as well as the largest conference space in the Alpine resort. Also in Cortina, the offer will be completed by 45 flats, the Radisson Residences Savoia Palace. On the resort front, the group is also expecting a new hotel on the Greek island of Santorini next year. Located in the village of Kamari, the Radisson Blu Zaffron Resort will have 102 rooms and a 134 m² meeting room.

As part of its expansion, the Radisson Group will also be strengthening its strong positions in two of its key markets, Africa and Russia. With two additional hotels planned this year in Ulyanovsk and Saransk, Radisson will consolidate its leading position in Russia. This is in addition to the first Radisson hotel in Kiev, Ukraine, due to open in the second quarter of 2022.

In Africa, six new hotels are currently under development, which will bring the Group's offer to almost 100 hotels in 32 African markets. By 2020, we will have a huge MICE hotel in Johannesburg, The Radisson Hotel & Convention Centre O.R. Tambo, with 289 rooms and a large conference centre with a 1,260-seat auditorium, and the Radisson Collection's first hotel in Africa, in Mali. The Radisson Collection Hotel Bamako will offer 200 rooms, but will also be dedicated to meetings and events with a vast 1,200 m² space including a ballroom and seven conference rooms. This will be followed in 2021 by the Radisson Hotel Addis Ababa, not far from the Ethiopian capital's airport, and in 2022 by the Park Inn by Radisson Durban International Airport DUBE, in South Africa. Other forthcoming openings include the Radisson Hotel & Apartments Accra, in Ghana, in 2023, and the Radisson Blu Abuja City Centre, located in the heart of the central business district of Nigeria's federal capital.
