After Oslo in the summer, Vienna at the beginning of the year, and London in 2021, Radisson RED is continuing its tour of European capitals. The Radisson Group's lifestyle brand has set up shop in the heart of Madrid, on Calle de Atocha, 500 m from the Spanish capital's famous TGV station. A convenient location for business travellers, especially as the hotel also benefits from its proximity to Retiro Park and Madrid's major museums, including the Prado, Reina Sofia and Thyssen-Bornemisza.
This affinity with the city's cultural highlights is reflected in the hotel's lobby and guest rooms, which display works revisiting the paintings of the great Spanish paintersVelasquez, among others, in an iconoclastic way. The entrance to the Radisson RED is also marked by a monumental red sculpture in keeping with the tone of the city, as it features its symbols, the bear and the strawberry tree.
Housed in a former sawmill dating back to the 1800s, the hotel offers 260 roomsincluding 10 suites, all with a sophisticated design, some with balconies. Like all lifestyle establishments, the new Radisson RED offers an attractive range of restaurants, designed by multi-starred chef Eneko Atxa. Already a partner of the hotel group, notably through its Eneko Basque restaurant at the Radisson Collection in Brussels and its NKO Basque-Japanese fusion cuisine concept at the Radisson Collection Gran Via in Bilbao, Eneko Atxa is offering three culinary experiences for this Madrid hotel, with a new NKO on the ground floor.

On the roof terrace, a variation of this concept, the Nigiri Basque House by NKO, will offer customers original nigirisand a view over the city. While these tables will open in November, the hotel is already offering a takeaway service, DeBokata, again put together by Eneko Atxa around his favourite streetfood dishes, revisited sandwiches, cocktails and craft beers. A bar also welcomes hotel residents and local customers with light snacks, sandwiches and tapas-style small plates. Currently in the opening phase, the hotel will also be offering guests a fitness room at the beginning of November.
Ideally located for business trips, the Radisson RED Madrid also offers a wide range of facilities.a MICE area with a main room of 140 m2 that can accommodate up to 150 people in theatre format, and four more intimate rooms for meetings of around ten people. The highlight: a terrace with views over Madrid.
" With its exciting culinary options, lively bar and spacious lobby featuring eccentric design elements, the Radisson RED Madrid will be an urban getaway like no other." said Sam Bath, General Manager of the hotel. This opening is part of the group's growth plan in Spain, where the following are expected to open 20 new hotels over the next five years.
