The Cuban aviation market has failed to meet the expectations of American airlines

For a while there was a rush, but now it's a bit of a letdown. L'political openness between the United States and Cuba was followed by the launch of a host of routes between the two countries. But the market failed to live up to expectations. As a result, after reaching a peak of 165,000 seats per week between the two countries in December 2016/January 2017 - with the tripling of capacity at JetBlue and four new airlines landing in Cuba - Delta Air Lines, Frontier, Southwest and Spirit - capacity is now declining in this limited market. There are still around twenty routes between the two countries, representing 135,000 seats a month. This represents a decline of 20% compared with the start of 2017...
