Between January and June 2025, 37.2 million passengers travelled through the Royal Schiphol Group's three airports. (Amsterdam-Schiphol, Eindhoven and Rotterdam-The Hague). This represents an increase of 3 % compared with the same period in 2024.
Amsterdam continues to grow
The Amsterdam-Schiphol hub tops the list. The airport welcomed 32.8 million passengersof which 23.3 million on European routes and 9.5 million intercontinental. With 299 direct destinations, including 123 intercontinental destinationsAmsterdam maintains its position as Europe's second best-connected airport.
The authorities believe that the second half of the year should confirm the positive trend in traffic. Schiphol increased its passenger traffic by 4% in July, and should reach 70 million passengers before the end of the year.
The biggest change, however, concerns the reduction of noise emissions. Since April, Schiphol has been applying a new system of charges.
Silence is golden
The latter encourages airlines to use quieter aircraft and to favour daytime flights. Just three months after The results of these measures are already visible: 30 % of aircraft operating at the hub are classified in the quietest aircraft categories. This represents an increase of seven points compared with 2024. At the same time, the proportion of the noisiest aircraft has fallen by the same amount. The Group is also pursuing a major investment programme. The airport spent €495 million in the first half of the year to modernise infrastructure, improve services and enhance sustainability. These funds are being used to finance work on the runways. But also in the terminals with wider conveyor belts, more seats, new shops and renovated passenger loungess. Construction of the new Pier A is progressing according to schedule. With scheduled to open in April 2027.
