Just over a year after the introduction of the new Düsseldorf and Essen services, Thalys is strengthening its links between France and Germany, with the addition of two new timetables from Paris. Three trains a day will serve Düsseldorf and Essen stations from 9 December, departing from Paris at 6.01am, 12.01pm and 5.58pm. On the return journey from Essen, the morning train will leave at 5.40am, arriving in Paris at 9.59am. The route seems to be attracting particular interest from Thalys, with the company's management even planning to increase its offer still further: "We are still working on strengthening this link; we hope to soon obtain other return timetables to enable the French to make a round trip in the day with Thalys, just as the Germans have been enjoying the ease of doing so in the other direction from Essen for several months now," says Franck Gervais, Managing Director of Thalys.
