Avis on Demand is also designed to be easy to use. After making a reservation on Avis.fr, renters use their Preferred card to open the vehicle and retrieve the keys from the glove compartment. As a competitor to Avis, Hertz has rebranded its former Connect car-sharing service as Hertz on Demand. Through a website - Hertzondemand.com - customers can reserve a car at 60 stations in the Paris region. With no membership fee, Hertz on Demand is billed according to the length of time the vehicle is used, i.e. from 4 to 6 euros per hour, plus 35 centimes per kilometre.
