Trenitalia continues to grow in Europe. The Italian company, part of the FS Group, has just unveiled a revamped logo and a new brand image to accompany the arrival in its fleet, by 2030, of 74 Frecciarossa 1000 high-speed trains in red livery with a single "F" on the nose. " This new Frecciarossa logo represents an evolution consistent with the industrial evolution we are following "As Gianpiero Strisciuglio, CEO of Trenitalia, pointed out at the presentation in Milan station.
In addition to the new trains, the new logo will be gradually rolled out to the entire current fleet, as well as to the various media and points of contact with the public. These include the FrecciaLounges reserved for frequent Freccia cardholders at Roma Termini, Milano Centrale, Bologna Centrale, Firenze Santa Maria Novella and Napoli Centrale stations.
New generation of more comfortable trains
Although the first four TGVs were delivered last December, the acquisition of these trains represents a major investment for the carrier, estimated at 2 billion euros. " Che new-generation Frecciarossa trains represent Italian technological and stylistic excellence. They are designed to offer the very best in performance, comfort, safety and durability. "added Gianpiero Strisciuglio.
These "red arrows" benefit from major technical improvements compared with the previous generations of Frecciarossa 1000 trains, which have been running in Italy since 2015 (and in France since the end of 2021). Built in Italy by Hitachi Rail, they also boast more ergonomic and designer interiors, with a completely revamped Bistro bar. The environmental aspect has not been forgotten, with lower energy consumption during journeys and, above all, a high level of recycling (97.1%) of all the components and materials of each trainset when it reaches the end of its life.
New trains to develop European services
In addition to the Italian market, these high-speed trains are intended to support Trenitalia's expansion in Europe, with the possibility of running at 300 kph on rail networks in Italy as well as in France, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Belgium, the Netherlands, etc. Not forgetting the UK, where Trenitalia has announced its intention to compete with Eurostar on cross-Channel routes by 2029-2030, and even later on the Paris-Brussels route. To achieve this, Trenitalia plans to operate 19 trainsets in France, compared with 9 at present, on its services to Lyon, Marseille and Milan.
An agreement was signed last December with the investment fund Certares, which has a strong presence in travel and tourism, to boost the carrier's distribution in France and support its international development. In Italy, it has also just modernised its yield management system to boost sales and load factors.
