Turkish Airlines: sustainability rewarded

Turkish Airlines was recently awarded the title of Most Sustainable Airline by World Finance, which recognises companies with the best CSR practices.

Turkish Airlines continues to set an example in the aviation sector with its pioneering sustainability initiatives. For the third year running, Turkish Airlines has won World Finance's 'Most Sustainable Airline' award. The World Finance Sustainability Awards have been recognised as an important benchmark in the global financial and business community since 2008.

Faced with the major challenges facing the aviation industry as a result of the climate crisis, Turkish Airlines stands out for its commitment to sustainability. In particular, it has launched its voluntary carbon offsetting platform CO2mission. The airline also uses sustainable aviation fuel (SAF). On board, Turkish offers sustainable products and a sustainable travel experience. It has also revised its waste management.

Commenting on the award, Ahmet Bolat, Chairman of the Board of Directors and Executive Committee of Turkish Airlines, said: "In accordance with our commitment to becoming a carbon-neutral airline by 2050We integrated the use of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) into our climate change mitigation plans in 2022. We extended the use of SAF to new routes in 2023. We will continue to add new routes operated on sustainable fuel. And continue our commitment to sustainable practices in all our operations."

Since 2008, Turkish Airlines has led more than 100 operational optimisation projects to reduce its carbon footprint. In 2023, the airline has achieved significant successes in terms of fuel savings and reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

In addition, the company has just improving the comfort of its business class sleeper seat. Turkish Airlines has just launched a new sleeping set that combines elegance and comfort. The set includes a lightweight silk duvet. This duvet offers a unique sleeping experience thanks to its velvet fabric surface, creating a sensation of freshness. It is accompanied by a pillow and a small satin cushion. Finally, an ergonomic mattress provides passengers with comfort similar to that of an on-board bed.
