Many business travellers flying from Turkey and Tunisia to UK airports have been waiting for this since March. At that time, the United States and the UK had decided toban laptops and tablets in the cabin departing from airports whose security did not offer sufficient guarantees, according to the authorities concerned. However, the platforms targeted by this blacklist differed on both sides of the Atlantic. The UK targeted flights from Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Lebanon, Turkey and Tunisia.
On 22 August, the UK finally lifted the laptop ban on two airports: Tunis-Carthage International in Tunisia and the Sabiha Gökçen in Istanbul. The British authorities say they are examining the ban on a case-by-case basis, while many airports are still affected, including Istanbul Atatürk, Cairo, Jeddah, Riyadh and Beirut.
