Marriott: around thirty luxury hotels expected by 2022

Recently opened in Madrid, the Santo Mauro, a hotel in Marriott's Luxury Collection, is a precursor to the development of around thirty luxury hotels worldwide by 2022 by the American group, across all its top-of-the-range brands.

The International Luxury Travel Market trade show in Cannes gave American hotel groups the opportunity to present the new features expected next year for their most prestigious brands. Marriott, whose number of luxury hotels exceeds the 450 mark, will be expanding its offer of 30 new establishmentsAll part of a pipeline of 190 properties in the pipeline. This development phase has not waited until the beginning of next year to materialise, as the Group has just welcomed a new member to its Luxury Collection, the Santo Mauro in Madrid.

Located in the upmarket district of Chamberí, close to the Sorolla Museum and Andén 0 metro station, the hotel is housed in the former residence of the Duke of Santo Mauro, an 18th-century palace comprising three historic buildings surrounded by gardens. Designed by interior architect Lorenzo Castillo, this exclusive hotel has just 49 rooms, including 10 suites with balconies overlooking the surrounding greenery. This noble house is focusing its offer on gastronomy, with a table by chef Rafael Peña, but also on meetings and events, with a partly outdoor space due to open in summer 2022. The Luxury Collection, which opened its doors this year with the Matild Palace in BudapestA number of new hotels are in the pipeline, including the stylish Josun Palace in South Korea, as well as a hotel in Tbilisi, Georgia, and others in India, the Dominican Republic and Mexico.
