British business travellers are getting ready to go back to business, but with a change of habits: that's the message sent by American Express through a new study published on 3 October. A survey of 1,000 UK professionals - 500 business travel decision-makers and 500 business travellers - was carried out between 25 and 29 July.

When asked about their forecasts for the next twelve monthsThe majority of UK companies (68%) are expecting a substantial increase in travel expenditure50% or more. And more than four out of ten companies (42%) are planning a increase in the number of business trips.

More travel, then, but with a larger sensitivity to environmental issuesaccording to figures published on Monday by American Express. In fact, a large majority of travellers (78%) say they are more aware of thecarbon footprint linked to their travel than ever before. A footprint that now worries seven out of ten mobile professionals (71%).

Another trend identified by American Express is the rise of the bleisureThis is in line with the greater consideration given to well-being travellers. According to American Express, no less than 79 % of British companies say they have become more concerned about the well-being of their employees when they travel. And this means greater flexibility for employees, who in one in three cases (31%) are now allowed to take their partner or a family member on a business trip, at little or no extra cost.
