SNCF: Train + Plane offer goes paperless at 100%

As part of the Train+Avion programme offered by the SNCF, a single digital ticket is required for pre- and post-journey by TGV to the two Paris airports of Roissy and Orly.

After a test phase starting in July 2021, the SNCF is now launching its new digital ticket ". Train + Plane "(formerly TGVAIR) in partnership with twelve airlinesAir France has already switched to this solution since last summer, selling 40,000 tickets. The new service is designed to be entirely digital, and passengers will no longer need to have a paper ticket for their train journey, whether pre- or post-transit.

This dematerialisation will result in the closure of TGV Air ticket offices such as those at Lyon Part-Dieu. You must check in online from 30 hours before take-off to receive your unique digital ticket. But don't panic if you have forgotten to download it, as you can always print out your QR code at a station terminal with the file references.

A service that's already 28 years old

Launched 28 years ago, this combined ticket is currently available from departing from 19 stations in France (+ Brussels) to the two Paris airports: Roissy-CDG and Paris Orly via Massy TGV. This service provides enhanced security in the event of a missed connection following a disrupted service. Passengers will be rebooked on the next train or plane at no extra cost. Train + Plane is available with Air France, Air Caraïbes, Air Austral, Air Tahiti Nui, Qatar Airlines, Emirates, Royal Jordanian, Vietnam Airlines, French Bee, Air Transat, Etihad and Corsair. At Air France, which already distributes more than 160,000 of these tickets a year, the TGV section will even enable passengers to take advantage of the new service.earn Flying Blue Miles. Business and Première class passengers also automatically travel in 1era class on board TGVs.

Highlighting the environmental benefits of rail as a means of transport to major airports, SNCF hopes to sell an annual 600,000 Train + Air tickets within five years, compared with 300,000 today. There is plenty of room for improvement, with some three million people taking the train to an airport every year. Especially as many airlines are not yet - or are no longer - SNCF partners for this service.
