One of the hotel groups with the strongest presence in Africa's major cities, the Radisson Group is actively pursuing its development strategy. As part of this growth dynamic, the hotel group has concluded the signature of seven establishments in the first half of 2023, adding a total of 1,400 new rooms to its offering over the coming years. At the same time, several new hotels are scheduled to open this year, including the first in Ghana, as well as new establishments in Casablanca and Saidia in Morocco, and in Tunis.

Several firsts are expected in the coming years, including the group's entry into Gambia and the arrival of the Radisson RED lifestyle brand in Nigeria. This upmarket, contemporary offering will soon be available in one of Africa's biggest cities, with the Radisson RED Lagos VI scheduled for completion by the end of 2025.
Located on Victoria Island, the city's main business districtThe hotel, with its sophisticated design, will offer 62 rooms, as well as a swimming pool and several restaurant concepts, including a rooftop bar. Thanks to its location in this area popular with the financial sector, the hotel will also offer facilities for meetings and events, with a space of almost 250 m² comprising a conference room, a boardroom and two meeting rooms.
The seventh Radisson hotel in Lagos, the Radisson RED Lagos VI is set to open as the group's 11th property in Nigeria. In the meantime, two other inaugurations will have taken place in Abuja. Notably that of a luxurious Radisson Collection, which will undoubtedly be a new favourite stopping-off point for business travellers passing through the Nigerian capital. Located next to the presidential palacelocated in the Maitama district, the hotel will offer a wide range of accommodation solutions, from classic rooms to lofts and presidential suites, with a total of 249 keys.
Conference venues
However, the Radisson Collection Hotel & Conference Center Abuja sees itself first and foremost as a new meeting place for corporate and institutional meetings, with almost 3,000 m² dedicated to conferences and meetings. Abuja will also see the opening in early 2025 of another business hotel from the upmarket Radisson Blu brand, located in the central business district of the federal capital. This 104-room hotel will also have 245 m² of meeting and event space.
The Radisson Blu brand will also enable the group toenter the Gambian market with its first hotel in Banjul, which will be the country's first international brand hotel. With direct access to the ocean and spread over more than 17 hectares, this 462-room complex, complete with villas and presidential suites, will naturally have a resort dimension, with a poolside restaurant and beach bar, among other features.
But the Radisson Blu Beach Resort & Spa Banjul, due to open its doors in early 2025, also aims to be the flagship hotel for hosting major events with its MICE area overlooking the beach. Spanning more than 3,000 m², the venue will offer a full range of solutions for organisers, including a conference room and 12 meeting rooms, as well as boardrooms and reception rooms.
Another MICE hotel in the pipeline is the Radisson Alger El Mouradia. While the first Radisson hotel is due to open soon in the El Hamma district, the Algerian capital is expecting a second top-of-the-range hotel by mid-2026, this time in the presidential district of El Mouradia. Close to ministries and embassiesThis 148-room hotel will offer bleisure facilities including a signature restaurant, swimming pool and sky bar. But it is primarily aimed at business travellers, with a coworking space and, above all, a vast meetings and events area with a ballroom, a conference room and several meeting rooms.
In the more distant future - mid-2027 - another of the Group's establishments will undoubtedly be used for business travel, as it will be located at close to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport from Nairobi. With 200 rooms, the Radisson Hotel Nairobi Airport will offer leisure facilities for passengers in transit, including a spa, swimming pool, shops and a crew lounge. At the same time, its MICE facilities will include a conference room, two meeting rooms and a business centre.
To complete this development, the group is also planning a new resort on the shores of the Red Sea in Egypt, the Radisson Collection Resort, Marsa Alam Port Phoenice. All of which means that the Group can look forward with some confidence to achieving its objectives of having 150 hotels on the continent over the next five years, compared with around a hundred today.
