Air Canada is adding new features to its mobile application for travellers with disabilities, as well as baggage tracking.

A new function on the mobile application that allows customers on domestic flights to track their baggage in real time. This is what we have been offering since December Air Canada. The carrier can also be used to track down mobility aids at key points on their journey.

Air Canada now offers its customers the option of tracking their baggage and mobility aids when travelling in Canada (CNW/Air Canada Group).

" At Air Canada, we know that in addition to a safe and enjoyable travel experience, prompt delivery of baggage and mobility aids is a top priority for our customers." explains Tom Stevens, Vice President - Customer Experience and Operations Strategy, Air Canada.

To further improve our service, we are introducing a new tracking feature in the Air Canada mobile application, which provides customers with real-time information and reassurance about the whereabouts of their belongings throughout the journey. "

With the Air Canada mobile application, passengers on domestic flights can now track their baggage and mobility aids by accessing the same information as airline employeesby scanning the tags. This feature will be extended to cross-border flights next year. This will be followed by selected international destinations.

Users of the Air Canada mobile application will be able to track their items in particular at every stage of processing at the airport, loading on board or transferring to connecting flights. This will reassure them at every stage of their journey. The same applies to disabled travellers who need assistance.

The baggage tracking function also includes information on baggage reclaim formalities, such as the baggage delivery conveyor belt at the airport.

In the event of a baggage delay, passengers will be informed not only by text message or email, but also via the application. This will make it easy for them to fill in a declaration for a delayed baggage item from the comfort of their own home and organise its delivery, thus avoiding them having to wait at the baggage carousel or baggage assistance counter. Customers will receive confirmation that their report has been received. This will be accompanied by a file number and a link to track updates.

The baggage tracking function is integrated into the Air Canada mobile application, the best way for customers to manage their travel. In addition to allowing customers to book travel and check in for their flights, the application offers self-service functions, real-time notifications of flight status, gate changes and a map of the airport in use. Customers can download the application free of charge from the Apple App Store or Google Play.
