MICE: the Parc Expo in Mulhouse is thinking bigger

Mulhouse is approaching 2024 with ambitions that have legitimately been revised upwards in the MICE. The destination will soon have an extensive infrastructure, with a new 3000 m² hall. The latter will significantly increase (25%) the capacity existing infrastructure (12,000 m²). The project also includes the development of a outdoor event zoneThe new Mertzau interchange will provide easier access. The work, launched in February 2022These works are being carried out in parallel with the Parc Expo's activities. They are due to be completed next autumn, with a slight delay due to more extensive decontamination work than expected.

The project designed by AEA Architectes includes in particular 550 photovoltaic panels which will be positioned on the roof of the new building. The electricity generated (182 kWp) will supply the whole of the Parc Expo. Laurent Grain, Parc Expo Director, predicts " sufficient volume for consumption on the premises, excluding events ".

120,000 additional visitors every year

On the strength of this redesigned infrastructure, Mulhouse Alsace Conurbation estimates that it will be able to welcome around thirty new events, and no fewer than 120,000 additional visitors each year. All this for a total investment of €13 million. This investment should rapidly bring substantial economic benefits, estimated at 8 million a year by Mulhouse Alsace Agglomération. In particular, local officials are expecting 4,000 additional overnight stays each year.
