The relationship between American Express Global Business Travel and the Expedia began with a transaction. That of sale ofEgencia to TMC in 2021. Three years later, it has taken on a whole new dimension, based on mutually beneficial cooperation that benefits business travellers in particular.
" We are delighted to continue our long-standing partnership with Expedia Group. ItsIA respond perfectly to the changing needs of business travel and its many stakeholders "says John Sturino, Senior Vice President of Travel Products and Engineering at Amex GBT. " This collaboration reinforces our commitment to providing our customers with cutting-edge, highly secure solutions "says John Sturino.
Amex GBT is adding a new technological string to its bow by adopting a solution developed by Expedia. Fraud Prevention as a Service (FPaaS)or "fraud prevention as a service" in French, is based on theartificial intelligence from the leisure travel giant. A tool designed to block fraudulent transactions before they even occur.
FPaaS applies a layer ofartificial intelligence fed by the machine learning Amex GBT explains: "Powered by models exploiting billions of data points collected over its 25 years of experience in the travel industry, Expedia Group's Fraud Prevention as a Service solution relies on artificial intelligence and machine learning to spot and report suspicious behaviour that deviates from the norm, to intervene even before the fraud has taken place".
Amex GBT is focusing in particular on two features of the tool. The first, called "Booking Screening consists of an examination of electronic transactions, carried out in real time via direct API integration. When confronted with the fraud detection models defined, the tool is designed to block fraudulent transactions at source. Second, "Account Takeover Protection focuses on customer logins - again in real time, using artificial intelligence and machine learning models. The aim is to "recommend targeted corrective measures to ensure the security and integrity of customer accounts when potentially fraudulent activity is detected", explains Amex GBT.
Support from a team of Expedia experts
The partnership between Amex GBT and Expedia goes even further than "simple" technological integration. TMC customers can use Expedia Group's in-house team specialising in fraud operations via the Chargeback Management service. This team then takes charge of the end-to-end process of managing and resolving disputes, handling all interactions with banks and merchants. In addition, the tool includes a 100 % chargeback guarantee, which reimburses partners for all truly fraudulent transactions.
" Our 20 years' experience in fraud prevention and our unwavering commitment to continually adapting our technology to the changing needs of our partners have enabled us to create targeted business solutions such as Fraud Prevention as a Service. "Karen Bolda, Senior Vice President, Demand Solutions at Expedia Group. " Using AI and machine learning, we can provide Amex GBT with a simple and effective way to manage fraudulent activity within their Amex GBT Egencia solution, which in turn provides greater peace of mind for customers booking travel. "she continues.
