It was one of the few flights linking Lyon to Central and Eastern Europe. Back in the 70s, LOT Polish Airlines operated two flights a week to Warsaw in a Tupolev 134. Together with the former Yugoslav airline JAT, LOT provided a link between Lyon and what was then the Soviet bloc.
The Lyon-Warsaw route had been suspended in 2008. It finally resumes on 30 September. LOT will be offering six flights a week from Lyon with different timetables depending on the day. The aircraft operating the route will be an Embraer 195 with business and economy classes. The flight will last two hours and 20 minutes.
In Warsaw, the airline's hub, passengers will have access to numerous connections to Polish domestic routes, Central and Eastern Europe, the Middle East, the United States and Asia. The flight is scheduled all year round. Lyon thus becomes the airline's third destination in France, after Paris-CDG and Nice.
The takeover of the route is part of the airline's strategic expansion plan for the period 2024-2028. Bookings for the new route are already open.
