Lufthansa launches a new baggage collection and delivery service in Frankfurt, in partnership with AirPortr
This is one of the latest trends in additional services. After considering on-board baggage as a financial windfall by imposing it as an ancillary expense to the detriment of the passenger, airlines are turning it into a source of satisfaction. This is one of the latest trends in additional services. After considering on-board baggage as a financial windfall by imposing it as an ancillary expense to the detriment of the passenger, airlines are turning it into a source of satisfaction. Their aim is laudable, to say the least: to lighten the burden on passengers. Lufthansa is now riding the wave of baggage collection and delivery.
The German group is offering passengers departing from Frankfurt to entrust their suitcase to the specialist AirPortr before they travel, at their home or hotel. The luggage is then sealed and transported to the airport, where it is checked in. It will be collected by its owner once they arrive at their destination. In the meantime, travellers receive real-time updates via a personalised tracking link and a digital baggage tag receipt.
Arrive light at Frankfurt airport: that's the promise of Lufthansa with this new service(DR Fraport)
The service, billed from 25 eurosis available up to 36 hours before departure via the airline's website. This is available to customers in the Frankfurt, Mannheim, Heidelberg, Hanau, Aschaffenburg, Wiesbaden, Mainz, Darmstadt and Bensheim regions. Lufthansa is already planning to extend this service with AirPortr.
It should be noted thatAir France had already made a name for itself in this field by closer to start-up Allthewayfrom summer 2023. Even within the Lufthansa Group, Swiss had also set an example from the end of 2021. The Swiss airline will thus have given Lufthansa the benefit of comfortable feedback, which has clearly won over the German group.
