As 2025 draws to a close, it's time for the travel industry to take stock. OAG is no exception, unveiling its 2025 ranking of the world's busiest airlines. The results are clear: Asia dominates the OAG ranking, accounting for nine of the ten routes in the top 10.
The flight Jeju-Seoul Gimpo is the busiest route, with no fewer than 14.4 million seats - or 39,000 per day - spread across the seven airlines operating on this route. Despite a slight increase on 2024 (+1%), 2019 levels remain a distant memory: pre-pandemic volume was 17% higher. Fares, meanwhile, have fallen by 11% to just 44 $ one way - contributing to the success of the route.
The Sapporo New Chitose - Tokyo Haneda and Fukuoka - Tokyo Haneda flights complete the podium. These domestic routes attracted 12.1 million and 11.5 million seats respectively. Japan is thus enjoying spectacular momentum, and is even reaching - or even exceeding - 2019 levels.

The Hong Kong-Taipei route (6.8 million) once again dominates the podium, ahead of Cairo-Jeddah (5.7) and Kuala Lumpur-...Singapore (5,6).
