To mark the 30th anniversary of the France-Brussels link, celebrated in the Belgian capital on 12 June in the presence of Jean Castex, the chairman of SNCF, the railway company announced the extension of the TGV Inoui Brussels-Strasbourg line to Basel, Switzerland, from July 2027. The service will be scheduled on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays with one daily return journey, jointly managed by SNCFthe SNCB and now the SBBthe Swiss railways.
The journey time between the two capitals will be approximately 5 hours and 30 minutes, with a departure around 7 am from Brussels and an arrival in Basel for 12:30 pm. On this line, the train will also serve the stations of Lille-Europe, Roissy-CDG TGV, Champagne-Ardenne TGV, Meuse TGV, Lorraine TGV and Strasbourg Ville. The TGV Inoui will depart from Basel around 2 pm for an estimated arrival in Brussels-Midi around 7 pm.
Possible connections with Eurostar to London and Amsterdam
With this extension, SNCF is highlighting the connection possibilities with the network. Eurostar from its international subsidiary. At Lille Europe station for Swiss passengers wishing to join London but also for Amsterdam and then change TGV at Brussels-Midi. It will not be possible, however, for passengers departing from London to change trains at Lille Europe in hopes of reaching Strasbourg or Basel due to current schedules.
