Deutsche Bahn no longer operates a direct service between Paris and Berlin, forcing passengers to change trains in Frankfurt or Mannheim.

Deutsche Bahn is suspending the Paris-Berlin line
For a few days now, Deutsche Bahn (DB) has suspended its direct high-speed ICE 3 train service between Paris and Berlin. DB justified this decision due to technical problems on the line in Germany linked to the European Train Control System installed by the manufacturer Alstom.
Travellers wishing to travel to Berlin or Paris on an ICE 3 must therefore change trains in Frankfurt or Mannheim. Launched at the end of 2024, this 8-hour journey was operated in partnership with SNCF and consequently sold via its various distribution channels in France, including its SNCF Connect platform.
Due to temporary operational constraints on the German rail network, we are currently unable to offer a direct rail connection between Berlin and Paris. ", a SNCF official in Paris confirmed to us. DB is not in a position to announce a direct resumption of service at this stage, but Alstom is working to repair the faults in the new European Train Control System (ETCS) fitted to the German railway company's Siemens trains.
