It cost Emirates no less than €2.53 million to create this new area dedicated to business travellers at the Leonardo da Vinci airport in Rome. This sum now gives the airline the largest space at the Roman airport, which Emirates has served since 1992. Since 8 April, Business and First class passengers, as well as business travellers with Gold or Platinum status under the Emirates Skywards frequent flyer programme, have had access to the new facilities deployed by the airline. A total of 920 m² of space dedicated to business customers, with a capacity of 156 passengers, can be accessed in Terminal 3, a few metres after passport control. Like the other Emirates lounges, the new Roman space offers a buffet, a business centre, Wi-Fi connection, televisions, reading areas and showers.
"Rome is the only Italian city where our iconic A380 flies, and we have seen a significant increase in passenger numbers over the last five years," says Mohammed H. In fact, the number of Emirates passengers to and from Rome increased by 110% between 2009 and 2013. "So the need for an Emirates lounge has never been greater," adds Mohammed H. Mattar. "It underlines our ongoing investment in Italy."
