Window seat or aisle seat? That's the question deciphered this week by EasyJet, which tried to analyse travellers' preferences for their seat in the aircraft. The first finding is that window seats are preferred by 59% of European passengers, compared with 38% for the aisle option. This figure is largely driven by younger passengers, who overwhelmingly prefer the window seat (76%), as do the French public (66%). Unsurprisingly, the middle seat received a meagre 3%. Older travellers and business travellers opt for the aisle seat, both for ease of movement during the flight, and above all to get off the plane more quickly on arrival. Among the other findings of the study, we note that seat 7F is preferred by European travellers - while seat 19C is the least popular - and that the right-hand side of the aircraft is more attractive than the left... "The debate about window seats or aisle seats is one of the most frequently overheard conversations during the flight," says Peter Duffy, easyJet Group Commercial Director. "Regardless of where you live, it's clear that being able to choose your seat is an important step in booking a trip and it's an opportunity that our passengers appreciate on our flights. The window seat is by far the most popular position (...). On the other hand, slightly older passengers prefer the aisle seat, as do frequent flyers and business travellers," explains Peter Duffy.
