
Based on the principle that "it's not always easy to find the balance between not standing on the crane for ages and just missing your plane", Kayak took out the stopwatch and sifted through Europe's biggest airports. The result: with an average walking time of 3 minutes between the security checkpoint and the boarding gates, Berlin Tegel airport won the sprint ahead of London Heathrow (4 minutes) and Vienna (5 minutes). Nice airport is well placed in this ranking (4th with 5 minutes). At the back of the pack are Zurich (16 min.), Madrid Barajas (20 min.) and Moscow Domodedovo (20 min.) - three major business hubs - which could well make even the busiest business travellers sweat. Kayak adds: "Of course, you'll also need to factor in the time it takes to get through security. This time is trickier to estimate, as it largely depends on more or less unpredictable factors, such as the mood of the staff"...
