Study: Adagio meets female business travellers

What is the profile of the female business traveller in 2017? What are her habits during a business trip, her sources of motivation or, on the contrary, her frustrations? Aparthotels Adagio attempts to answer this question in the light of a survey of 500 mobile professionals.

On the occasion of the last Espace Voyages Professionnels (EVP)Anne Boussarie, Managing Director of Getty Images France, discussed the changing image of business travel over the last ten years. Invited by American Express GBTThis specialist in visual trends has highlighted a major change, which she puts down to 2011: theappearance of the businesswoman in the representation of business travel. Initially branded as same attributes as men (suits, hand luggage...)".the image of the business traveller is evolving towards " more human, more natural, more authentic" . The "Woman & Work" and "Female & Travel" queries even increased by 250 % and 423 % respectively on the Gettyimages.fr website between 2015 and 2016.

22% of French working women also travel as part of their professional duties

With this in mind Aparthotels Adagio are therefore shining a spotlight on the profile of these female business travellers, who are thought to represent more than a third of business customers (35%). " Although we still too often imagine the business traveller as a businessman with his attaché case in hand, we mustn't forget that 22% of French working women travel also as part of their professional mission" says the preamble to the study, which cites the consultancy, management and retail sectors as those most affected.

One of the main findings of the study concerns the attachment of these working women to business travel. In fact, 84% of those surveyed say they enjoy business travel. In 42% of cases, mobility played a role in their choice of job. If this mobility is associated withdistance from family (18%), the concepts of motivation (19%) and pleasure (17%) are also present.

The duration of trips is fairly short, as is their distance. According to Aparthotels Adagio, nearly 90% of those surveyed had made a trip in France. And in 73% of cases, the average stay is less than four days. Paris is the most popular destination (51%) on the domestic market. The capital is ahead of Lyon (19%) and Marseille (15%).

The majority of business trips take place in Europe, mainly in France, according to the Adagio study

In terms of accommodation - a theme dear to the heart of the study's sponsor - 'traditional' hotels remain the overwhelming majority: 84% of female travellers have opted for a hotel room. However, more than a third of those surveyed had recently stayed in a aparthotelWhether in a personal or professional capacity.

Finally, at the risk of sounding cliché, the essential kit of the business traveller is imbued with femininity... In fact, for 56% of nomadic professionals, the beauty accessories takes first place in the must-have list (56%). This is followed by the tablet (48%), then the e-reader or the 'good old' bedside book (37%).
