Business travellers in Lyon will soon be able to make the acquaintance of Stan. In the coming weeks, the operation of this parking robot should be offered on a large scale, covering 500 seats on the P5+ car park of theLyon-Saint Exupéry airport. Four copies system developed by Stanley Robotics will operate simultaneously, with twelve boxes designed to receive and return vehicles. The first of these was presented on Thursday, in operation, paving the way for " a world first "according to those in charge of the project. " We are proud to carry out this operation with Aéroports de Lyon, and to be able to present to the world for the first time the operation of the Stanley Robotics outdoor valet robot service. "says a delighted Clément BoussardCEO of Stanley Robotics, who " envisages a long-term collaboration "This is the first time that the Group has worked with airport stakeholders.
To access this new automated parking systemPassengers are invited to reserve their seat on the airport website. All they have to do then is leave their vehicle in a dedicated box, and take the shuttle to their departure terminal. The car-sharing robot then takes control of the operation: it takes charge of the car and parks it in a secure car park. On the return journey, the passenger will find their vehicle in one of the boxes.
This project was launched in July 2017 with Stanley Robotics, then tested for several months in 2018, prior to this official inauguration. Airport officials are already looking further ahead, and hope eventually to be able to integrate an additional 2,000 seats into the system.
" Thanks to our innovative approach, Aéroports de Lyon has always been one step ahead in terms of customer experience and quality of service. (...) Experimenting with the car pooling robot is fully in line with this innovative approach to meet Aéroports de Lyon's and Vinci Airports' continuous improvement requirements. "explains Tanguy Bertolus, Chairman of the Board of Aéroports de Lyon.
