THE NETWORK
Lyon has one of the densest networks in France. The airport is linked by 50 airlines to 120 destinations. Air France-KLM is the main user of the hub. The group has set up its second hub in France in Lyon, offering more than 200 daily flights to 41 destinations in Europe, including Bucharest, its most recent destination (in partnership with Tarom). Air France-KLM carried nearly 3.5 million passengers in 2009. The group and its SkyTeam partners occupy terminal 2, with a special pier reserved for small regional aircraft. Among the scheduled carriers, the Lufthansa group is present with its five airlines (Austrian Airlines, Bmi, Brussels Airlines, Lufthansa and Swiss), operating 24 daily departures to seven destinations (Brussels, Dusseldorf, Frankfurt, Manchester, Munich, Vienna and Zurich). The Lufthansa group accounts for almost 10 % of all traffic, or 70,000 passengers a year. The third largest player in Lyon, the low-cost carrier Easyjet serves around twenty destinations.
AIRCRAFT
The airport has three terminals. Terminal 3 is reserved for low-cost airlines. Terminals 1 and 2 are located on either side of a central area containing airline counters, bars and restaurants, shops, a business area and the corridor linking to the TGV-tramway express station. Terminal 2 handles all flights operated by Air France-KLM and its partners, and is equipped with a self-service check-in area. Air France-KLM has its own 90-seat private lounge. Terminal 1 is used by other scheduled airlines and was renovated and extended in 2009. The Mont Blanc lounge is reserved for business class passengers of the various airlines. Shops: a dozen shops as well as a dozen restaurants and bars are available to passengers. The duty-free sales areas have recently been recognised as among the most competitive in Europe. Bank and post office services are also available. Espace Privilys offers a business centre with meeting rooms, private restaurants and the Mont Blanc lounge. Hotels: Kyriad, NH Lyon Aéroport.
ACCESS
The airport is located 25 km east of Lyon on the A43 motorway towards Grenoble. It is less than 30 minutes from the city centre by Rhônexpress tramway. From the TGV station, Lyon is linked by around thirty TGV trains to the Alps, Provence, Paris and Italy. Internet : www.lyonaeroports.com
