The Group Air France is expanding again as sanitary conditions around the world ease. Starting with Transavia which is continuing to strengthen its short-haul network from Orly. Next winter, the carrier will launch routes from the southern Paris airport to Berlin and Stockholm-Arlanda (three times a week); Krakow (two weekly frequencies) and Rome-Fiumicino (four flights a week). All these routes will open on 21 or 22 October.
The carrier is also announcing the resumption of routes suspended due to the covid pandemic. Budapest, Santiago de Compostela, Reykjavik and Vienna will be added to the airline's network from Orly. The first three destinations will benefit from two flights/week and Vienna from up to 5 flights/week. The airline also confirms that it will continue to operate the domestic services from Orly to Brest and Toulon.
It should be noted that, outside Europe, Transavia to launch weekly flights from Orly to Amman. Flights will start on 18 December and will complement the existing service between Lyon and the Jordanian capital. The low-cost carrier also has a extensive flight schedule to Algeria. For the time being, however, it remains dependent on the goodwill of the Algerian authorities.
Three new destinations for Air France
For its part, the parent company Air France is inaugurating new long-haul routes for its winter season. The carrier will operate three flights a week to Colombo in Sri Lanka by Boeing 787 Dreamliner. This service will be an extension of the existing service to Male in the Maldives.
This is the same type of aircraft that will serve Muscat (Oman) three times a week as well as Zanzibar. Air France will be offering two weekly rotations to this mythical destination as an extension of its flight to Nairobi. On board, Air France will offer a three-class service (Business, Premium Economy and Economy).
The French company is also announcing increase frequencies this winter to Dubai, Miami and Papeete via Los Angeles.
