The inauguration ceremony for Air India's new lounge took place on 16 February in Delhi. A special moment for the Indian airline, since it marks the arrival of the Maharaja Lounge concept, the new generation of Air India lounges. With the ambition to " building a world-class airline with an Indian soul "according to the company's management.
Located in Terminal 3 of Delhi's Indira Gandhi Airport, the Maharaja Lounge occupies a 1,486 m² area on the level of the international jetty. The lounge is divided into a "Business Class" zone and a more exclusive area known as "Air India First". It has a capacity of 300 passengers: First and Business Class passengers, Maharaja Club Platinum and Gold members and Star Alliance Gold eligible members.
Business travellers can enjoy the calm and professional facilities of Globetrotter's Study, or take a break in Aviator's Bar, whose décor pays tribute to the origins of Air India. There are also two areas where travellers can recharge their batteries: the Serenity Area and the Space Sleep Suites.
Beyond Delhi airport, this inauguration of the first Maharaja Lounge in the Air India network "marks a high point in the airline's ongoing transformation", with the roll-out of a new standard for business travellers.
