The turbulence in the global economy is also being felt in the air. The decision by American Airlines to stop its Chicago-Brussels service from 6 November is a case in point. The American carrier currently serves the Belgian airport once a day, but is having to cease operations in response to falling demand and the unfavourable economic climate. The other route operated by American Airlines from Brussels, to New York, remains in place.
