American Express has just opened a new Centurion Lounge at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol. Being its 33rd worldwide, Amex is fond of presenting this nearly 550 m² space dedicated to Centurion and Platinum cardholders – as well as holders of Delta SkyMiles Reserve and Reserve Business co-branded cards – as the first in continental Europe to bear this name. This is despite the fact that its first lounge on this side of the world opened in 2019 at London Heathrow, while travellers also have access to a solution of this type at Stockholm Arlanda through the American Express Lounge by Pontus Frithiof.
Be that as it may, American Express is becoming the first credit card issuer to operate a proprietary lounge at Amsterdam Schiphol, « a major airport for our cardholders in the Netherlands and around the world »according to Audrey Hendley, President of American Express Travel. Located between concourses E and F, the lounge is open daily from 6.00 am to 9.30 pm and celebrates Dutch cultural heritage: a palette of blues, greens and natural tones evokes the city's canals, while works by local artists adorn the walls – including a painting by Mieke Jonker featuring American Express's iconic bulldog – blended with references to Delftware and former queens of the Netherlands.
A design inspired by Amsterdam's canals
Lit by large picture windows, this new Centurion Lounge offers VIP travellers a Blue Roast Coffee Bar serving coffees from local suppliers, a buffet featuring seasonal dishes inspired by Dutch flavours, as well as a bar. To rest or work before departure, visitors can choose between comfortable armchairs, banquettes or high tables, alongside quiet workspaces or areas designed for groups. All of this comes with numerous power sockets and USB ports, free high-speed Wi-Fi and a dedicated phone call area.

But more are on the way, particularly in the United States where this offering is most developed, with openings expected at Newark Liberty and Boston Logan, as well as a Sidecar by The Centurion Lounge at Charlotte Douglas.
