On the occasion of the publication of its 2021 Environment, Social and Governance (ESG) report, American Express Global Business Travel highlighted all the achievements and commitments made by the travel agency to ensure " a responsible, sustainable and safe future for the travel industry" .
While TMC's ESG programme supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDG), this summary report highlights a number of environmental initiatives. Signatory to the World Economic Forum's Clean Skies for Tomorrow initiative, Amex GBT aims to help accelerate the deployment and use of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF). As part of this overall target of 10 % of global jet fuel supply by 2030, the TMC has entered into a partnership with Shell Aviation to work with airlines and its corporate customers to stimulate both supply and demand.
These sustainable commitments are also linked to the traceability of carbon emissions and their accounting to ultimately limit the carbon footprint of travel. For example, American Express Global Business Travel is working with the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC) to help set the industry standard for green hotels. This has also resulted in the launch of new products and services such as Green Compass, enhanced sustainability features in Neo and Egencia among others. In addition, NeoAmex GBT's proprietary online booking tool, added a new CO2 sorting system to help users quickly find the travel option with the lowest carbon footprint.
In addition to this sustainability dimension, the Neo platform is also one of Amex GBT's spearheads for making business travel more inclusive. In line with the trend in several countries for travellers to be able to present themselves as their preferred gender on arrival, the latest version of the booking tool includes the option of removing the name prefix from traveller profiles or including the gender-neutral choice "Mx". The booking tool also offers a non-binary option next to "man" and "woman" in the gender selection field.
While the Business Travel Awards in 2021 recognised Amex GBT's achievements in diversity, equity and inclusion (DE&I), the travel agency can boast of certain advances such as its goal of use of diversified suppliersAmex GBT's commitment to the ECPAT code of conduct, which aims to protect children from sexual exploitation, fundraising for Universal Children's Day and emergency operations in Haiti and Afghanistan. Finally, in terms of governance, Amex GBT highlighted its programme to ensure that all its employees complete the following each year mandatory risk and compliance trainingwhile stressing that " Transparency will only increase following the IPO. "
