From next March, in theory during the first week, the Continental name will be a thing of the past. A past that may still be visible on the bodywork of the group's aircraft - although the paintwork on the fleet's aircraft should gradually erase the old identity - but which will lose virtually all reality for passengers. Reservations, check-in and boarding counters, the website and frequent flyer programmes will all come under the single United name in March, as airline group executives recently confirmed to the Houston Chronicle. In concrete terms, visitors to Continental's website will be automatically redirected to United's, while crews should continue to be allocated according to their original airline, at least until negotiations are concluded.
