Ascend confirms record air safety figures

Ascend confirms the trend described a few days earlier by the International Air Transport Association: global aviation broke records for safety in 2011.

It's easy to see why the American authorities recently decided that advances in aircraft safety meant that they could now fly over the North Pole: Ascend has just highlighted the unprecedented low number of accidents in 2011. The number of fatalities fell by 40% to 25, three fewer than the previous year. Statistically speaking, the rate has fallen from one accident for every 1.3 million flights to one for every 1.52.
