The winners BCD Travel 2023 Cities & Trends Report was unveiled on 14 March. It takes stock of the habits of European business travellers, and in particular of the most popular business destinations last year. The list includes Amsterdam comes out on top, ahead of two key business hubs: London and Frankfurt. Paris will have to be content with fifth place in this ranking. Among non-European destinations, it is once again New York which dominates the rankings. The Big Apple is ahead of Chicago and Dubai. The 2023 top 10 is also notable for the preponderance of American destinations, with 7 US hubs. The United States unsurprisingly dominate the international country rankings, while Germany comes out on top in Europe. The France is in 4th place.
The report published by BCD Travel also lists the air routes most frequently used by business travellers. The London-New York is in the lead, ahead of two flights operated from Frankfurtto Chicago and New York. Departures from ParisNew York is also the most popular business destination.
Business class-Economy class: draw
As for travel habits on intercontinental flights, it is worth noting that business class (47%) is slightly ahead of economy class (42%). The premium classThis alternative, developed by many airlines in recent years, now attracts only 10% of travellers. First class is a closed circle, with 1% of bookings... The study published by BCD Travel also shows an almost perfect balance between direct flights (51%) and connecting flights (49%) on the intercontinental network. However, as Michèle Lawley, President of BCD Travel for Europe, points out, " The class of service chosen, the type of flight and even the route have a direct effect on CO2 emissions. For example, direct flights offer a shorter itinerary and consume less fuel on landing and take-off than connecting flights. By analysing their emissions data, companies can target the behaviours or policies they want to influence or change to encourage smart, considered travel." .
