Bolt integrates ride-hailing booking directly into ChatGPT

Bolt becomes the first ride-hailing platform accessible via ChatGPT in Europe, allowing users to estimate a journey and prepare a booking without leaving their conversation with OpenAI's assistant.

Enquiring about a route, comparing a price, and then ordering a ride: these steps, previously scattered across multiple apps, can now all be done within a single conversation with ChatGPT. Bolt has just integrated its VTC and taxi services, a first in Europe for a shared mobility platform, rolled out simultaneously across all its markets rather than country by country.

In concrete terms, the user interacts with ChatGPT to obtain a price estimate, compare several routes and find out the driver's estimated arrival time, with the assistant also suggesting the most relevant pick-up point. The booking itself then switches to the Bolt app, where it is finalised; payments will continue to be processed there for the time being, with Bolt planning to open this stage up to ChatGPT later in the year. The integration thus exposes Bolt's services to ChatGPT's claimed 900 million weekly users, an order of magnitude incomparable to the audience of a standalone ride-hailing app.

This integration reflects a broader shift in consumer behaviour. According to Accenture’s Consumer Pulse Research 2025 study, conducted in January 2025 amongst 18,214 consumers in 14 countries, 80 % of travellers worldwide already use artificial intelligence to organise their journeys, and more than half say they are prepared to entrust the entire process to it. This view is shared by Julien Mouyeket, Managing Director of Bolt France: “ A large part of this organisation is now done in a single conversation with an artificial intelligence. ", he points out, adding that ordering a ride should become as simple as " ask, check the price and leave ".

This approach is in line with that already adopted in the hospitality sector: Accor had paved the way at the end of January with an ALL app directly integrated into ChatGPT. Bolt, for its part, had recently expanded its offering to include taxi journeys at a guaranteed price. The ChatGPT integration is accessible via the assistant’s app catalogue, provided you search for Bolt directly within it.
