Brazil is the flagship destination for TAP Air Portugal for long-haul flights. And 2025 is no exception. The airline has just announced that it has broken a traffic record of over two million passengers.
This figure, communicated by the company on 17 December, suggests that TAP should have carried almost 2.2 million passengers between Europe and Brazil by 31 December 2025.
In 2024, the airline had already passed the 2 million passenger mark from Lisbon and Porto to 13 Brazilian cities. This represents an increase of 7 % compared with 2023. The event was celebrated in Manaus, the capital of the state of Amazonas, which has just celebrated the first anniversary of the Lisbon-Manaus route.
The world's leading airline on the Europe-Brazil route
" This record on the Europe-Brazil routes reflects passengers' confidence in TAP and the importance of the Brazilian market. Celebrating this milestone in Manaus is symbolic, as the Lisbon-Manaus route reinforces our commitment to linking the north of the country with Europe".said Carlos Antunes, TAP's Director for the Americas.
TAP Air Portugal has confirmed its position as the world's leading airline on the Europe-Brazil route. South America is in fact TAP's second largest market in terms of seats/km. This summer, the semi-continent accounted for a market share of 32 %, just behind Europe with 36 %.
