For the first time in its history, Brussels Airlines passed the million-passenger mark in just one month. The young Belgian company recorded exactly 1,020,729 passengers in July.. The replacement of AVRO jets (100 seats) by 180-seat Airbus aircraft is no stranger to this fine performance. While North Africa has been the engine of growth for Brussels Airlines, Europe accounts for the bulk of its sales. In fact, the number of passengers for European travellers totalled 824,000 in July, compared with 124,000 in Africa.. To a lesser extent, the number of people carried also increased to North America (+6.4 % to 39,000 passengers), the Middle East (+10.8 % to 22,000 passengers) and Asia (+7.4 % to 10,000 passengers).
