2017 ended on a high note for Brussels Airport, which welcomed no fewer than 1,717,855 passengers (+2%) in December: a record for the last month of the year. This monthly result is in line with the Brussels hub's annual results, which set a whole host of records in 2017. In total, Brussels airport handled 24.8 million passengers last year (+13.7%), an all-time record in the airport's history. During the summer, the hub also broke its daily record - 94,305 passengers on 28 July alone - and monthly record with 2.5 million passengers in July.
These results mark a real rebound for Brussels airport, after a year marked by the terrorist attacks in 2016. In addition, the departure of Jet Airways to Amsterdam could have augured a decline in the airport's international profile. Other airlines have made up for this relocation, with new flights launched not only by Brussels Airlines to Bombay, but also by foreign carriers: Hainan Airlines to Shanghai, Delta Air Lines to Atlanta, and Qeshm Air to Tehran.
