Temporary closure of Caen airport

Caen Airport will close on 11 March. Nothing definitive, however: it will reopen just over a month later.

At least business travellers will have time to plan their business trips in advance. L'Caen Airport has just announced that it will be closed from 11 March. The reason for the closure is runway upgrading workThese will enable the platform to comply with European certification, as well as converting the lighting to LEDs.

Volotea moves, Air France packs up

L'Caen airport will therefore be closed to air traffic from 11 March to 18 April.. And arrangements have been made with the various players involved. Starting with theDeauville Normandie airportwith which a "mutualisation work"should make it possible tolimit the impact on the business". In concrete terms, Volotea will transfer some of its flights to the Deauville hub, but it is not yet known to what extent. The Spanish low-cost airline, increasingly present on the French domestic networkserves 8 destinations - including three in Corsica - from Caen airport. In addition, flights operated with Air France will be suspended for the duration of the works.

What's more, if CCI Caen Normandie and CCI Seine Estuaire - managers of Caen and Deauville airports - have indicated that they are "pooling their organisation", with no shuttle service planned to transfer passengers between the two towns, as the two airports are some 70 km apart.
