CES 2019: SanDisk breaks records with a 4TB USB flash drive

Western Digital Corporation presented its new products at CES 2019. The SanDisk USB flash drive with a capacity of 4 TB was one of the highlights.

The SanDisk Extreme PRO® Portable SSD will be available this spring.

SanDiska brand of the Western Digital Corporation group, has unveiled its new USB-C on the occasion of the CES (Consumer Electronic Show) held in Las Vegas from 8 to 11 January. The key feature of this USB flash drive is its capacity. It has almost 4 To of documents, photos and videos that can be stored on it, all in a compact format. However, the product is still under development, and the brand has not given any further details about the product's features or when it will be available.

Up to 2TB of storage for the Extreme PRO Portable SSD

At the same time, the brand presented other new products. In particular, it introduced the SanDisk Extreme PRO® Portable SSDan external hard drive compatible with PCs and Macs that will be available at Spring 2019. According to SanDisk, between 500GB and 2TB can be stored on this drive, and the transfer speed will be up to 1GB/s, ideal for business travellers who need to transfer files quickly. Its design has also been thought out to make it easy to transport: the body of the hard drive is made of aluminium to protect its components and prevent heat. A silicone coating makes it resistant to shocks, water and dust.

Western Digital Corporation has also announced the release of the My Passport GO SSD hard drivewith an integrated cable and 1 TB capacity, and the Flashback service. Compatible with two models of SanDisk USB flash drive, this service automatically creates a copy of each of the drive's contents on a drive. Users can therefore always access their documents, even when they don't have their storage key to hand.
