Chile closes for a month in the face of an outbreak of Covid cases

Chile went into lockdown for a full month on 5 April. The country is facing a resurgence in cases of Covid, with more than a million cases. As a result, many international airlines have been suspended, particularly those operated by LATAM, Santiago's main carrier.

Le Chile faces a paradox. The country is considered to be one of the most effective in America in its vaccination campaign. According to Reuters, over 30% of the Chilean population has already been vaccinated.

And yet... This situation does not prevent theexplosion in covid contamination. Local experts are pointing the finger at a degree of complacency among the population - particularly during the summer holidays.
