DOSSIER - Berlin: High-tech über alles

History likes to overturn codes. So Berlin, despite its dark past, has become a symbol of tolerance and freedom, a festive and studious capital. Berlin's power of seduction is not only exercised on German professionals, but also on those from all over the world. The result: the population has grown steadily in recent years. Rents are rising, but so is the skilled workforce, encouraging the emergence of start-ups. From a rebellious city, Berlin is becoming a technological city with a new look, particularly in terms of hotels, where the current trend is towards originality. We sometimes forget that a flight from Paris to Berlin is the equivalent in time to a flight from Paris to Nice: one hour and forty-five minutes to reach the new Berlin-Brandenburg airport, hopefully by 2020.
