DOSSIER - Los Angeles: show off and business

In 2007, Hollywood produced as many films and TV series as there are days in the year. On Hollywood Boulevard, new buildings are being constructed and refurbished. This is common practice in L.A.: every ten years, the letters of the "Hollywood Sign" are repainted, and people give themselves an injection of botulinum toxin. But along with the cult of beauty comes the cult of inner happiness, which has even become an academic discipline at Ucla. This is where lawyers, doctors, managers and, of course, film-makers are trained. The city of stars attracts all kinds of talent.
