Dorchester and Fairmont take to the skies in Tokyo and Dubai

The luxurious Dorchester Collection will be making its Asian debut in Japan's tallest tower, in Tokyo. Meanwhile, the Fairmont brand is preparing another high-rise hotel in Dubai.

Business travellers will certainly have to be patient before they can discover the new hotels proposed by the luxurious Dorchester Collection in Tokyo and Accor's premium brand, Fairmont, in Dubai. But these emblematic projects already stand out for their impact on the skyline of their respective host cities. The future Dorchester Tokyo in particular, which will incorporate the top floors of what will be no less than Japan's tallest buildingthe Torch Tower.

390 metres high, the skyscraper, which is due to start construction next year, is part of the redevelopment of the Tokiwabashi district, on the outskirts of Tokyo Station and at the crossroads of the Otemachi, Marunouchi, Yaesu and Nihonbashi districts. This project, supported by Mitsubishi Estate, will see the emergence of a new living space organised around a vast 7,000 m2 open-air area facing the Japanese capital's main railway station. This area is currently under development, and has already seen the completion in 2021 of another gigantic tower, the 212-metre Tokiwabashi Tower.

The Torch Tower, which will have direct access to Otemachi metro station, is scheduled for completion in 2027, with the Dorchester opening the following year. First appearance of the collection in AsiaThe hotel promises a high-level experience, with elegant interiors and panoramic views over central Tokyo, its bay and Mount Fuji in the distance. This elevated location is enhanced by 'Sky Hill', a Japanese-style garden perched high in the sky.

World-renowned architects will be inspiring the public with their concepts symbolising the torch, illuminating not only the future of Tokyo and Japan, but that of the whole world.

Before Tokyo and Asia, the Dorchester will also be taking its first steps in the Middle East with another large-scale project, the hotel The Lana in Dubaia 225-room and suites establishment housed in a new architectural jewel designed by Foster + Partners. Set on the edge of the Marasi Business Bay Marina, not far from the Burj Khalifa district, The Lana is expected to open in September 2023 and will feature chic interiors by designers Gilles and Boissier, a signature restaurant on the 18th floor and, to top it all off, a rooftop with bar and swimming pool.

The emirate is also preparing to welcome another architecturally impressive hotel in 2024, the Fairmont Dubai Skyline. The brand's third property in Dubai, this new Fairmont will be located on the famous Sheikh Zayed Road, in a tower 226 metres high and 54 storeys high, whose asymmetrical balconies, lit up at dusk, will give the illusion of movement. The Fairmont Dubai Skyline will offer 181 rooms and 121 two-, three- and four-bedroom flats. All with 360-degree views of the emirate's skyline.
